Shapes are flat, two-dimensional, enclosed areas. A shape is formed when the beginning of a line connects with its own end.
A video about Shape

Every shape falls under one of two categories: Geometric or Organic.
Geometric Shapes: Shapes that have perfect or uniform measurements. Geometric shapes can be measured by length and height. Geometric shapes are commonly recognized by names such as squares, rectangles, circles, triangles, hexagons, etc.

Organic Shapes: Shapes that are irregular or freeform. Organic shapes are often found in nature and are often one-of-a-kind.

Shape & Emotion
Artists use shapes to convey different emotions in their artwork. Shapes can also evoke different emotions from the viewer of an artwork.

Sharp edges represent anger or distress while smooth edges represent happiness or calmness.
